FS2000/CFS Bf109e in WWII Camouflage. This is a repaint of
the default CFS Bf109e aircraft painted in a brown Camouflage
with a golden brown engine cowling texture. This aircraft displays
Group Commander, III Group, 1 Staffel markings. This aircraft is from
CFS and tested in FS2000. Uses Bf109e Panel. It will fly equally well in CFS
and FS2000. All flight surfaces are moveable, retractable landing gear.
Repaint by Bob Bongiovanni.

INSTALLATION FOR FS2000:

INSTALLATION: Unzip the file "bf1093gp.ZIP"into your
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2000\Aircraft" Folder.
You should end up with a folder named "Bf109e-III Gp".
Under the folder "Bf109e-III Gp", you will have five folders:
GAUGES
MODEL
PANEL
SOUND
TEXTURE

Copy the the file "Bf109e.gau" from the folder "GAUGES"
shown above, to C:\Program files\Microsoft Games\FS2000\GAUGES.
If you have already downloaded/copied the Bf109e.gau" file,
and installed it in FS2000, the gauges will already be there
in the "GAUGES" folder. Explorer will let you know if it already
exists. This Acft will use the default Bf109e Panel, which files
are already in the "PANEL" folder. When selecting this aircraft in
FS2000 it will read "Bf109e_III Group". If you have any problems
with this aircraft, e-mail me at the address below.

INSTALLATION FOR CFS:

INSTALLATION: Unzip the file "bf1093gp.ZIP"into your
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator\Aircraft"
Folder. You should end up with a folder named "Bf109e-III Gp".
Under the folder "Bf109e-III Gp", you will have five folders:
GAUGES
MODEL
PANEL
SOUND
TEXTURE

You can ignore the "gauges" Folder, as the gauge "Bf109e.gau"
will already be in the CFS "GAUGES" folder. This Acft will use
the default Bf109e Panel. You must copy all of the sound files in
the default "Bf109e" sound Folder into the "SOUND" folder of your
new aircraft "Bf109e-III Gp". It will tell you that "SOUND.CFG" already
exists, do you want to overwrite it. Select "YES" and copy over the
"SOUND.CFG" file. When selecting this aircraft in Combat Flight
Simulator it will read "Bf109e_III Group". If you have any problems
with this aircraft, e-mail me at the address below.

GERMAN FIGHTER MARKINGS
Fighter Markings
German fighter units had their own markings system, which is summarized below. For the non-alphabetic symbols, the following convention is used: '~' indicates the a curved line, resembling an U with down-turned tips. '|' indicates a vertical line, '-' a horizontal line, and '+' a cross. '<' indicates a forward pointing '<', but when this is repeated as '<<', the second symbol was painted inside the first one, often as a triangle. For the circle I use 'o', and for the solid ball '·'
A Jagdgeschwader was made up of three (later four) Gruppen, indicated with Roman numbers. Each Gruppe had three Staffeln, of 12 aircraft, labelled with arabic numbers; these were numbered continously -- 7. Staffel was part of III. Gruppe. The point has the meaning of 'th' in German, so '2.' means '2nd'. The Staff (Stab) of each Gruppe had also four aircraft, and so did the staff of the geschwader. Theoretical strength was thus about 124 aircraft. The aircraft of the officers had special markings, placed in front of the German cross:

Geschwader Commander: <<| or <<-)
Geschwader Vice-Commander: <|
Geschwader first officer: <-
Staff Major: <||
Geschwader technical officer: <|
Gruppe Commander: <<
Gruppe vice-commander: <
Gruppe technical officer: Staffel commander: 1

The Staffel commander, known as 'Staffelkapitan' (but not necessarily having the rank of captain) was sometimes also identified by a small flag on the antenna mast.
The Gruppen were indicated by symbols placed after the cross:

I. Gruppe (none)
II. Gruppe -
III. Gruppe ~ or |
IV. Gruppe · or +

While Staff- and Gruppe-markings were in black with white borders, a distinction between Staffeln was made by varying the colors of the symbols and numbers of aircraft:

1. Staffel, 4. Staffel, 7. Staffel:white
2. Staffel, 5. Staffel, 8. Staffel:red
3. Staffel, 6. Staffel, 9. Staffel:yellow
Additional Staffeln: blue

So an aircraft with a Yellow 5 and a ~ painted on it belonged to the 9. Staffel, part of the III. Gruppe. There were, however, many exceptions on this system, which was complicated and only applied to jagdgeschwader.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
All of my C182RG, T-41, Extra 300S and Learjet 45 aircraft can be flown in CFS2 by downloading the CFS DP files created by JEAN-JACQUES PAREL. Several of my aircraft are in military colors and suitable for CFS1. You can search for his files by using the file search function. Search for "Parel" or use the specific file names listed below. You can also search for all of my aircraft under "Bongiovanni" to determine if you want to use any of my Military version aircraft in CFS2

For the C182RG and T-41, download file - JP_DPRG.ZIP
For the Extra 300S, download file - JP_DPEX.ZIP
For the Learjet 45, Download file - JP_DPL45.ZIP

NOTES: If you like to fly out of Meigs Airport, you should download the file "Meigs1.zip from SurClaro. You will love how he improved the scenery. Look for quality scenery and tutorials by Andreas Klisch.

If you are looking for excellent quality aircraft, go to "file search" on SurClaro and look for aircraft by "Mike Field" and "Jean-Jacques Parel". You won't be dissapointed. You can search by their name in the file search area.
